Champing Out

This champion of a human was seen taking a dirt nap on a case of Steel Reserve after a rotisserie chicken feast on Church outside of the Safeway.
Does anything really even need to be said about this?  I do like the intended time of consumption being noted on the bag, "LATE NIGHT" and "all nighter" just so you know who the targeted demographic.  Would anyone actually eat these if it weren't after a 3am marathon round of gravity bong hits?

Deliver Me From Safeway

If there's one thing that I hate doing it's trying to purchase just about anything at the Safeway at Market and Church.  From time to time I forget how horrible my experiences there have been and convince myself that I've only been exaggerating it in my mind.
Well last night was another one of those times where I allowed myself to falsely believe that the convenience of closeness and the wider snack selection compared to the Walgreens on Haight St would be worth the trip to Safeway.  Low and behold I was wrong, wrong, wrong.  Even though it was close to 9pm the grocery was still teeming with degenerates and infinitely long lines.  I grabbed my two small snack items and raced for the shortest check-out line.  I opted for the "Express" lane over the self-service line as it looked somewhat shorter.
Well, long story short it only took about 45 minutes to get out of Safeway with my small bag of trail mix and Cliff bar.  It makes me want to peel my face off!!!!
Every. Single. Time. I enter that store I cannot manage to escape in under 20 minutes unless I am there solely to use the ATM.  I went there once around 1am on a Saturday night and it still took nearly an hour to get out with under four items.  Why is this store so awfully inefficient?!?!?   Anyone?
Ok, that's the end.  I just won't go there unless I absolutely have to...  or I get another late night snack urge that cannot be ignored.
This picture was taken when the "Express" lane had finally whittled itself about half-way down to 11 people. When I initially got in line it seemed like the better option compared to the 30 odd people in the self-check line, turns out both lines move at relative speeds.

Sandwichgasm Inc.

Yesterday I also experienced my first sandwich from Ike's Place. I was a bit skeptical that a sandwich I would have to wait nearly 3 hours for could be that much better than a good sandwich from some other sandwichery.

I also considered that the rave reviews for this place had come from people who waited one to three hours for food; hence when they finally did get to mow down on anything at all it inevitably was the most glorious tasting food of their lives.

All of this aside, when I did finally pick up my "Napolean Complex" on fresh baked-to-order Dutch Crunch bread all it took was one bite to convert me to one of the throngs of followers. These sandwiches are certainly worth the wait. Not to mention the vast menu will keep your return visits fresh. Here's what a three hour sandwich looks like (note, sandwich will be devoured in around 10 minutes):

Air - Live at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA 03.26.10

On Friday evening my girl and I went to see Air, a french band quite possibly most famous for their soundtrack to the Sofia Coppola movie "The Virgin Suicides," or the catchy tune "Alpha Beta Gaga." No matter, if you're not already familiar with this duo go out and purchase all of their albums.
Below is some video footage of the live show at the Fox Theater in Oakland. I was initially right up front, but I moved back a bit halfway through the show because I was shut down from filming before the end of the opening song as you may notice in the first video.

What?!?!

Usually I'm the only person adding to the view count on this blog. But to my surprise today the count had gone from 80 something to over 20k 200k hits.

What the hell is going on here?!?! Why all of the hits all of a sudden? It's not like this is spectacular writing (not even close).

Oh well, if this keeps up I suppose the pressure is on to update a little more often.

**Update**
I'm going to go ahead and guess that this is a result of the Dave Attell at Cobb's Comedy Club, and Dave Chappelle at The New Parish recordings. I Googled both terms and noticed that this blog comes in some of the earlier results.
Stay tuned as in the future I plan to post other events of interest that I may be attending, hopefully with video footage included.

Ahhh, another magnificent day in the city of San Francisco!
The weather has been getting progressively nicer over the last several days and it looks as if the trend will be continuing into the weekend allowing me to debauch outside in complete comfort.

One thing that's come along with this weather that I don't recall happening before is that I appear to have developed some kind of allergies to something in the area. I suspect that it has something to do with those droopy willowish looking trees that are lining every street in the Lower Haight.
I also think that these trees may be the culprit that leave an impossible to remove dusting on my car.

After a quick googling of SF trees I believe the trees I'm referring to are the Maytenus boaria aka the Mayten.

Dave Chappelle's Come Back @ The New Parish

Sorry, it's been almost a month since my last post. Things have kind of picked up in my day to day activities, and I was focusing my writing efforts into an open call for a feature length comedy treatment.

That being said, I don't even recall all of the things I've done or thought between the last time I blogged and now.

One of the more notable things was that I got the chance to Dave Chappelle perform twice in one week at The New Parish in Oakland. I accidentally bought tickets to both the Thursday 2/11 (early set) and Saturday 2/13 (late set) shows and was unable to get a refund for one of the nights so I went to both.
Despite all of the hyped up ban on recording devices I was still able to slip a small HD cam into both shows. Now because I was more interested in enjoying myself and trying not to draw attention to my illegal camera the resulting footage was pretty worthless. The only portion of either recording which might be worthwhile is the audio of which I got around an hour of each set.

I'm going to attempt to upload it to this blog a little later, but I'm not certain I'll even be able to, stay tuned...

Let's see, what else? I went to the Valentine's Day Pillow Fight at Justin Herman Plaza, and coincidentally on the way there passed Dave Chappelle and his kids outside of the Four Seasons hotel. What a stalker-ish weekend that turned out to be.

Lots of other crap happened over the last few weeks but I don't feel like trying to remember and record it all for you now. It's probably not that interesting to you anyway.

**Update audio from the Saturday 2/12 late set below**
