Occasionally I have to move my car - that I only drive once a week in order to move it so I don't get a ticket - well outside of my direct neighborhood. One of the failsafe areas for me to find a good week long parking spot brings me near one of my absolute favorite spots in the city where I can observe things like this:

Schwarzenegger SVU
In a criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous...
Well, while the Manson family murders may not have been sexually based Arnold considers the crimes of Bruce Davis 'especially heinous' and says 'the 67-year-old Davis might still be dangerous,' ultimately denying Davis of parole for his part in the murder of two other Manson commune dwellers.

Hola Mis Amigos!
I just found out via Broke Ass Stuart that the SF Public Library is offering free access to the often touted language learning software Rosetta Stone online. All you need is an SF library card and your pin number and you could be on your way to learning Hebrew or English.
Personally I figured I'd give the Spanish a try since the last time I half-assed my way through a sentence in this language was in a small classroom in Midwestern America.
It's free and you don't even have to leave your house, so why not?

It's Nice to Get Out of the City
Went camping at Andrew Molera State Park near Big Sur California late last week. The campsite was teeming with California ground squirrels that swarm your tent, picnic table, and anything you may have left out. They are cute and pesky. The land is breath-takingly gorgeous. And there's nothing that beats a good camp fire and a whole lot of booze.
When we woke up in the morning we realized that we didn't have the means to prepare coffee so we did what any seasoned camper would do. We drove 10 miles up the road to the nearest rustic convenience store for our fix. At this store I found this handy kit, take a look. I've been looking for an "easy-to-use lymph constrictor."
When I returned home from camping on Saturday I was greeted by a gaggle of nude bicyclists; just another day I suppose.

Lower Haight Gallery Openings
This past Friday we checked out some of the neighby-ho gallery openings, and my, my, my what fun it was! We ran through Fifty24SF, D Structure, and Lower Haters - check the detailed photo run down below:
First up was the main event, Porous Walker's Haricots Magiques opening at Fifty24SF Gallery's new space directly adjacent to Upper Playground.
Inside and out it was a wild scene, tons of great people, great art, and great entertainment! Not to mention complimentary beers and popcorn!!!
Porous' art is absurdly amusing. He's definitely got his own style. And while it may not be as detailed as Carravagio the time he saves on each individual piece is probably what allows him to come up with such a prolific show.
There was a really great stream-of-consciousness type scroll along one entire wall of the gallery
Skate or Die...
Been there done that...
...that too
One of the best things about going to a Porous Walker show is that he doesn't take himself too seriously, as such most of his work is seriously inexpensive. And I'm proud to say this precious gem now belongs to me
more arts
Snugglemachine also played and gave out prizes and compliments! What a couple of capital dandy fellows!
There was some other artists' work on display at the show too, but unfortunately I got too drunk to remember names. Here are a couple of great paintings hanging there now (I think one of them is rendered after the likeness of SF's own Jeremy Fish):
Remembering that D Structure was having an opening too, we ran over there next. These guy's have been having some seriously outrageous looking parties going on in their gallery and I'll seem to stop by too late to check it out. Luckily we didn't miss it this time:
Heeey, there's another party in here.
Wow, and look at that tremendous art (again I've forgotten names, but it's there now so go check it out)!
This art is making me thirsty, time for a beer...
Oh look, it's gallery director (and owner?), and all around nice guy, Devon
Such an outstanding member of society
Ever wonder what smoking will look like in the future? Well, maybe you should google "plooming," they had a sample bar set up
You say you're not much at socializing and the art is making your eyes bleed? Take a break and stare a classic Henson joint
Very glad we finally made it over to this opening. We'll be back!
Next we ran over to Lower Haters to check out some custom bikes
Another mob scene, how did you people get so cool?
Couldn't resist heading back over to Fifty24 where the party was showing no signs of slowing
Oh man, is that John and Jessica Trippe from Fecal Face? These guys are like celebs to me, and I finally got up the nerve to introduce myself. Here they are representing some Midwest flavor
A true pair of Coolio's. Hope to run into you again!
We met a Harvard teaching fellow who lost his finger in freak accident at the dolphin therapy camp that his parents sent him to because he wasn't speaking at the age of 6 and they thought he wasn't right in the head. One morning while feeding the dolphins this boy's life would change
The party's still "popping" inside
Well put...
whooo, what a night!
